QUETTA: Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerjan Kustafin has said that Kazakhstan wants long-term and stable trade relations with Pakistan.

Industry and trade owners of both the countries will have to take advantage of the existing investment opportunities to play a role in further strengthening the bilateral trade relations, said the Kazakhstan’s ambassador.

He said that the embassy will direct the immediate issuance of visas on visa applications sent through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta Balochistan.

“Whether it is industry and trade or education, we will cooperate with Pakistan and Balochistan as much as possible,” said the ambassador.

“There is no shortage of potential in Balochistan. The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry will give priority to the suggestions and opinions of the officials and members of Balochistan,” he said.

He expressed these views while addressing the officials and members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the occasion of his visit to Quetta, Balochistan, on Thursday.

Earlier, Fida Hussain Dashti, President of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Senior Vice President Haji Muhammad Ayub Mariani, Haji Akhtar Kakar and others welcomed the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Quetta and said that they would like to visit Kazakhstan. He said that issuance of visas should be facilitated for those involved in industry and trade of Balochistan and in this regard immediate orders should be issued on visa applications sent through the Chamber of Commerce.

“Pakistani traders import large quantities of scrap from Kazakhstan, while exporting potatoes, mangoes, onions and other foodstuffs, earning the two countries a large amount of foreign exchange. We want Kazakhstani experts in minerals, education and other fields,” he said. He said, “In order to benefit from investors, it is important that our delegation be invited to Kazakhstan so that we can learn about the opportunities available there,” he said.

On the occasion, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Yerjan Kastafin said that it was his first visit to Balochistan. He thanked the officials and members of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry for meeting him here.

He said that the people of Pakistan and Kazakhstan have a long history of fraternal Islamic and cultural relations.

He said that investors from Pakistan and Kazakhstan would have to play their part in further strengthening bilateral trade relations by taking advantage of the investment opportunities available in both the countries.

“Kazakhstan has educational, tourism and business opportunities. We want to further develop economic cooperation through mutual contacts,” he said.

He invited officials and members of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry to visit Kazakhstan and said that he wanted the business delegations of the two countries to know about the existing investment opportunities and to scientifically understand the existing opportunities in both the countries.

“We want the train between Kazakhstan and Iran to reach Pakistan as well. It will further improve trade relations,” he said.

He said that persons associated with industry and trade of Pakistan would be able to repay money to each other very soon through The Bank of Punjab and two banks of Kazakhstan. In this regard, repayment of funds would be possible in next few weeks.
