KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department projected rain in Karachi on Friday, stating the city’s weather would stay hot and humid during the day, Bol News reported.

According to details, the pre-monsoon season is likely to bring greater rain to many regions of the country with the Meteorological Office warnings of urban flooding in cities.

As per the report, there are chances of rainfall in Karachi today or early tomorrow. In a statement, the Meteorological department said that the winds are blowing at a speed of 18 kilometres per hour, however, they could intensify by up to 35 kilometers per hour as the day progresses. They added that the temperature will remain between 34 C to 36 C.

On the other hand, drizzling has been reported in areas like DHA, Sea View, Clifton, MA Jinnah Road, Gurmunder, Tower, Nazimabad, Sarjani and North Karachi.

Earlier, heavy rains affected havoc in Lahore yesterday by killing at least three people and injuring three more. Wreaked havoc on Lahore’s power transmission infrastructure, tripping many feeders of the Lahore Electricity Supply Corporation (Lesco). For four hours, Mustafa Town and Education Town were without power. Flight operations at the airport were disrupted as was the electricity supply.

Three individuals were killed in a wall collapse incident reported in the Bank Stop neighbourhood of Lahore. According to rescue sources, the injured have been sent to a local hospital for medical care.

Meanwhile, flight operations at Lahore International Airport were temporarily halted. A flight from Sharjah to Multan had to be rerouted. PA413, an Air Blue flight from Sharjah, arrived at Lahore.
However, due to a strong wind storm, Air Traffic Control refused to allow the pilot to land at Lahore airport, according to sources.
