ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Fawad Chaudhry said Shehbaz Sharif should give the date of elections if he wants political stability in the country.
He was referring to a news report which quoted the prime minister as saying that political stability was necessary to bring durable economic stability and increase agriculture productivity and exports.
In a statement on social networking site Twitter, Fawad Chaudhry said that Shehbaz Sharif’s statement was correct in stating that political stability was needed for economic stability.
The former information minister said political stability was possible only through fair and transparent elections.
Fawad Chaudhry said the economic crisis was also a result of the political crisis hatched in the country. He said that Shehbaz Sharif should announce fresh elections if he has any authority.

In another statement, Fawad Chaudhry expressed hope that the Lahore High Court (LHC) will annul the elections of Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shehbaz.
“The son was brought through a fake method. The parliament is being run in a fake manner. Pakistan’s political situation is critical. Elections are necessary for political stability,” he said.
Fawad Chaudhry hoped Hamza Shehbaz’s election as chief minister will be declared as null and void. He said the court is reversing the decisions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which means they were not in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has resumed hearing the case challenging Hamza Shehbaz’s election as the Punjab chief minister.
The PTI and PML-Q filed separate petitions against Hamza’s election. An LHC bench headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan is hearing the case. The court is expected to announce its verdict today.
