QUETTA: At least 19 people were killed on Sunday when a passenger coach fell into a ravine near Zhob district of Balochistan, Bol News reported.
According to details, the tragic accident took place near Sherani in district Zhob when a passenger coach fell into a ditch, killing 19 people and injuring 12 others.
The district administration said that the victims and injured have been shifted to Zhob and Mughalkot. The passenger coach was coming from Rawalpindi to Quetta when the accident took place.
Police sources confirmed that the bus coming from Rawalpindi to Quetta via Zhob when it fell into a ravine at Dhanasar due to heavy rain and speeding.
Civil Hospital sources said that so far ten passengers have been killed in the accident while 15 injured have been brought to the hospital.
An emergency has also been declared at the Civil Hospital. Police sources further said that teams and ambulances of Medical Emergency Response Centre 1122 have left from Dera Ismail Khan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the bus accident.
The prime minister directed for immediate and best treatment to those injured in the mishap. He expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
Earlier in June, eighteen passengers including women and children were killed when a speeding bus veered off a narrow mountain road and plummeted into a ravine in Qilla Saifullah district in Balochistan.
Deadly road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road infrastructure and disregard for traffic laws, as well as poorly maintained vehicles.
