- PA session scheduled today for election of CM Punjab
- The session will be held at 4pm at the Assembly Sectretariat
- The development came after the LHC decision that declared the elect of Hamza Shehbaz null and void yesterday
LAHORE: A meeting of the Punjab Assembly (PA) is scheduled for today for the election of the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) and an agenda in this regard has been issued by the Secretariat, reported BOL News on Friday.
The meeting will be held today at 4pm in the Assembly Secretariat and the Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Mazari will chair it.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz and Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will contest for the slot.
During the session, guests of the members and staff of the assembly will be banned while Secretary Assembly, Speaker box, officer box and guest galleries will be closed. Carrying mobile phones in the House will also be banned.
The election of CM Punjab will be covered by the media through the press gallery.
It is pertinent to mention here that LHC on Thursday declared the election of the Punjab chief minister unconstitutional which resulted in the win of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hamza Shehbaz.
A five-member bench gave the decision 4-1 in the favour of pleas submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers. The PTI approached the Lahore High Court against the election of Hamza Shehbaz as chief minister of Punjab in light of the opinion given by the Supreme Court that the defectors’ vote would not be counted.
