KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) extended a stay order issued against the arrest warrant of PTI leader and Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Shaikh.

Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested Shaikh for illegally occupying public lands. ACE Chairman and other officials appeared before and apprised the court regarding the cases registered against the opposition leader.

Prosecutor-General ACE alleged that there were serious charges against Shaikh for forcefully occupying government lands. He complained that the lower court dismissed against the suspect on the first day of arrest. He also presented the details of the case against Haleem Adil Shaikh

The SHC bench directed the provincial authorities to take all necessary precautions before arrests. The court extended the stay order issued against the arrest warrant of the PTI leader. The proceedings were adjourned for an indefinite period.

Speaking to media outside the court, Haleem Adil Shaikh said he fully trusts the court but the Sindh government first got him arrested from Lahore illegally and then from Lahore.

“We trust the court but the Sindh government has played with me. First I was arrested illegally from Lahore and then picked up unlawfully from Hyderabad,” he said.

“I approached the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against anti-corruption officials and today those who consider themselves untouchable appeared before the court.”

He claimed that sorts of tactics are being used to disqualify Imran Khan. “We liberated Punjab from them (PPP). Now we will liberate Sindh,” he vowed. He said PPP pressured Returning Officers (RO) to disqualify Imran Khan but still his nominations papers were approved.

On July 28, Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sindh arrested Haleem Adil Shaikh in a property transfer case from Jamshoro. SHC had restrained the ACE from taking action against Shaikh.
