ISLAMABAD Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Member Punjab Babar Hasan Bharwana has signed the detailed judgment against PTI chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakana reference.

According to sources, the ECP member and his wife are seriously ill and are suffering from dengue due to which he could not sign the detailed verdict. A special team of the election commission visited Jhang to receive the signature from the ECP member, sources revealed.

The election commission has not issued a detailed judgment on the Toshakhana case which disqualified Imran Khan. However, the judgment raises eyebrows as it did not have the signature of the ECP member even though it was termed a unanimous verdict.

It is also reported that the ECP spokesperson would hold a press conference to release the detailed verdict of Toshakhana reference. The commission said the delay in releasing the detailed judgment will not issue the final decision.

The delay in issuing the written verdict has also questions. PTI senior leader Asad Umar asked, “Why is the election commission withholding the written decision? What are they cooking up now?”

Former Governor Sindh Imran Ismail called the delay in not issuing the detailed ruling “shameful”. He allegedly the chief election commissioner was waiting for a written decision from London or Bilawal House.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan challenged his disqualification in the Toshakhana case in Islamabad High Court (IHC). The court has set the hearing on Monday October 24

Imran’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafa filed on his behalf a writ petition in the court urged that the order be declared “against the settled principles of law” on Article 63. The petiton further urged the court to declare the ECP’s order “misconceived” and set it aside.

The ECP disqualified Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference under Article 63(1)(p). It stated that Imran Khan submitted a false affidavit and ordered to register criminal cases against the former prime minister.
