Absconder is making strategic decisions from abroad: Imran Khan

LALA MUSA: PTI chairman Imran Khan reacted to reports that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his staying in London to hold further deliberation with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing participants of the long march via video link, the PTI chairman said a “drama” is being staged in London which is not seen in any part of the world.

He said the decision for the appointment of the most strategic position of national security – the chief of army staff – is being taken in London by a convicted absconder.

He said the Sharif family bought properties worth billions in London but never provided the source of money. He said Maryam Nawaz, who owns expensive properties there, is also in the decision-making process along with the absconding son of Shehbaz Sharif.

He said Ishaq Dar only returned to the country after his “handlers” assured him that he will not his harmed, but his sons are still abroad. “A pack of thieves is taking decisions for the country,” he said.

He added that it is undecipherable in a civilized country that decision will be taken abroad and by a group of people who have been looting the nation for the past thirty years.

On the other hand, he said that Shehbaz Sharif filed a defamation case in UK Court but did not submit a reply. He said Shehbaz Sharif has been summoned and will face trial next month.

He said Daily Mail raised serious allegations against Shehbaz Sharif who was under the impression that can buy judges there as well.

“This is the difference between us and other countries. Why do people go there to find jobs? Not because they have more talent but because there is justice,” he said, adding that a society cannot progress and have real freedom unless there is justice.

He said “looters and thieves” are making the decision about who will be the next army chief of Pakistan. He said the nation should decide whether they will allow the prime minister to escape abroad in order to avoid accountability.

He denied allegations that he was making the appointment of the army chief controversial, saying he wants the decision should be made on merit. He said IG Islamabad was being indicted in the Safe City project but was given the coveted post to serve Shehbaz Sharif.

He also questioned the “handlers” who have imposed the ruler of the country whether they were aware of the consequences.

In a late-night development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his stay in London for a couple of days after being scheduled to return.

PM Shehbaz Sharif arrived in London on Wednesday on a private visit after attending Climate Implementation Summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

According to reports, the prime minister extended his stay in London for one more day and will now return on Sunday or Monday. During his stay in London, Shehbaz held several rounds of talks with Nawaz Sharif on key political issues.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that consultations were held on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) appointment in the meeting between Shehbaz and Nawaz Sharif.

The minister reacted to the speculations in the media regarding the army chief’s appointment, saying that consultations were held on the appointment but no decision was taken. He said that the decision for theappointment will be taken after consultation under the constitutional process.
