RAWALPINDI: PTI Chairman Imran Khan refused to march toward Islamabad to hold a sit-in and announced to dissolve all provincial assemblies in a bid to pressure the government to hold fresh elections.

Addressing a massive political rally, the PTI chief said they have decided not to be part of the current system. He said that he will hold consultations with chief ministers and will dissolve the provincial assemblies.

Imran Khan said the government will not be able to prevent them if they marched to Islamabad but it would lead to chaos and further instability in the country. Instead, he said it has been decided to quit all assemblies.

He added that a parliamentary session of the party will be held before the final decision will be made after consultation.

The former prime minister said he was warned from attending the rally over security threats but he was deterred as he has seen death from close after he was attacked. “Every effort was made to humiliate me,” he said.

Imran Khan said today the nation stands at a crossroads to stand up against injustice and corrupt leaders and seek real freedom. He said that previous governments didn’t work to strengthen institutions which led to the current situation.

He questioned the fault of their government that it was brought down under a foreign conspiracy even though there were no corruption allegations against them.

“I failed in being unable to bring the powerful under the law,” he said, adding that NAB was not under his control and those controlling the anti-graft watchdog were making deals with these looters.

He said NAB made the cases but there was no decision and instead, he was told to focus on the economy. He said corruption was not considered morally wrong and the nation has borne the brunt of these deals.

He also slammed against calling the cipher a ‘drama’, adding that it was an insult to the nation. “A low-ranked government officer told our ambassador to remove his prime minister, this is an insult to the country,” he said.

He said the country had the highest GDP growth in 17 years during its tenure. He said apart from bringing down the economy, the government unleashed the most brutal violation of human rights on party activists.

Imran Khan said everyone knows why Arshad Sharif left the country and who threatened him. He added that eventually a conspiracy was made to attack him and blame it on religious fanatics.

“This is my Pakistan and my army. I want Pakistani to have a strong defence. I am proud that Pakistan has the strongest army among Muslim countries,” he said.

He said the Haqiqi Azadi movement will continue till the nation receive real freedom and justice.
