ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi is likely to visit Lahore on Thursday for consultation with Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan regarding important appointments.

Sources said President Dr. Arif Alvi is likely to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan today at Zaman Park Lahore.

He will also hold important consultations regarding appointments Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) during the meeting with Imran Khan.

On the other hand, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that the Prime Minister has sent the advice to the President, it is hoped that the Arif Alvi will not create any controversy.

After the meeting of the Federal Cabinet, Federal Minister Khawaja Asif while talking to the media said that it is hoped that the President will approve the advice of the Prime Minister, with his signature, the uncertainty will end.

The Defence Minister said that the President is the Supreme Commander of the Pakistan Army, and he hoped President will not create any controversy

Earlier, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif decided to appoint Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and Lieutenant General Asim Munir as Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The minister also said that a summary of the appointments has been sent to the President of Pakistan for approval.
