LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the provincial assembly will be dissolved upon receiving instructions from PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
During the rally in Rawalpindi, Imran Khan announced to quit all legislative assemblies and dissolve the government in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a bid to force the government to hold early elections.
In response, Pervaiz Elahi said the Punjab government is the trust of Imran Khan and they will not hesitate even a minute to dissolve the provincial assembly.
“The (Punjab) government is the trust of Imran Khan. If he instructs, we will not wait even a minute to dissolve the provincial assembly,” he said in a statement. “If assemblies are dissolved, Shehbaz Sharif’s government of just 27 miles will not even last 27 hours,” he added.
He also slammed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s statement that the long march was a flop show. He said the minister was a culprit of the Model Town incident and will be held accountable one day.
CM Punjab said the massive public gatherings prove Imran Khan’s popularity. He added that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance will be shattered after mass resignations.
He said Imran Khan had been given a new lease on life and played his final round. He said PDM is already facing divisions and will suffer ultimate defeat. He said the Punjab government will uplift the common people and will provide free cancer treatment.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) leader Moonis Elahi said that Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would dissolve the assembly on Imran Khan’s instructions.
The former federal minister said that they have been spending ‘bonus’ time in the Punjab government since the day the chief minister has elected.
He said the PML-Q would dissolve the Punjab Assembly on the PTI chairman’s orders He said Pervaiz Elahi will not think twice before dissolving the provincial assembly if and when Imran Khan instructs him.
PTI chairman Imran Khan announced that his party would not be part of this current political system and would quit all legislative assemblies.
He decided not to march toward Islamabad to avert any chaos or destruction. He said that he would announce the date of resignations after consulting chief ministers and the parliamentary party.
