In a statement issued by the Department of Public Relations of the Pakistan Army, ISPR said that on the occasion of the 51st Martyrdom Day of Nishan Haider Major Akram Shaheed, General Officer Commanding Major General Muhammad Nadeem Ashraf laid a wreath at the shrine.

According to ISPR, armed forces of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honor, people from different walks of life participated in the ceremony. In a statement issued by ISPR, it was said that civil and military authorities and the family members of the martyr also participated in the 51st martyrdom day ceremony of Major Akram Shaheed.

By showing courage and bravery in the war of 1971, Major Akram Shaheed killed the enemy and sacrificed himself for his beloved country. On his 51st martyrdom anniversary, he created a great story of courage and bravery in the 1971 war, which the nation is proud of even today.

During the war, Major Akram Shaheed displayed great bravery on the front of East Pakistan and thwarted the massive air, artillery and armed attacks of the enemy. Major Akram along with his men bravely fought against the enemy many times bigger than him for 15 days.

For creating a new story of bravery and courage, Major Akram Shaheed was awarded Nishan Haider, the highest honor of Pakistan Army. He graduated from Military College Jhelum and joined the 28th PMA Long Course in March 1961 and passed out in October 1963 and was commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment.

He also got the honor of the best marksman in his course, Major Muhammad Akram joined the infantry battalion on 13 October 1963. On his excellent record, he was promoted to the rank of Major in September 1970 on completion of the Military Intelligence Course.
