ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notice to the state and FIA on the bail plea of PTI Senator Azam Swati.
The hearing was held in the IHC today on the plea seeking the release of the PTI senator in the case of the controversial tweets.
Swati was arrested in November for tweeting against the state institutions.
The court issued notice and sought a reply in the case till January 2 (Monday). Earlier, a trial court on December 21 rejected the bail plea of Swati.
The trial court while rejecting the plea remarked that the petitioner had committed the same offense two times.
Following this, Azam Swati moved IHC for post-arrest bail.
Babar Awan presented before the court on behalf of the PTI leader and while speaking to media outside said that only two tweets could not incite a mutiny in the army.
On the other hand, IHC on December 23, suspended the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) notice to seal Swati’s farmhouse.
The court issued notices to all the parties and stopped them from taking any further measures.
