At least two killed in clashes on Pak-Afghan border

QUETTA: At least four people were killed and eight others were injured on Sunday during a cross-border attack along the Pak-Afghan border.
As per details, Afghan Border Forces attacked a residential area in the border town of Chaman border with heavy weapons. An emergency has been imposed at Chaman hospital.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudous Bizenjo expressed concern over cross-border firing and rocket attack in Chaman. He expressed grief over the deaths and injuries of civilians in the attack.
He hoped the federal government will ensure an immediate and effective solution to this issue at the diplomatic level. The chief minister directed the district administration of Chaman to provide full support to the affected citizens
He said the civil defence organizations and district administration should provide assistance and guidance to citizens in an emergency situation.
He instructed Balochistan Secretary Health to implement emergency in the hospitals of Quetta and transfer the injured immediately. He expressed his condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased.
The Pakistan-Afghan border at Chaman has witnessed incidents of cross-border attacks in recent months. In November, the main border crossing was closed after gunfire and deadly shooting.
Chaman is the most important border point for trade between the two countries, after Torkham in the country’s mountainous northwest.
During the exchange of fire, a Pakistani border guard was martyred while two others got wounded, Deputy Commissioner Chaman had said.
The governor of Afghanistan’s neighbouring province of Kandahar also confirmed the incident but said there were no casualties on the Afghan side.
Soon after the incident, the border was closed from both sides, while an emergency was declared in Chaman to control the situation.
