KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday predicted cold and dry weather in most parts of the country during the next 12 hours.

However, partly cloudy weather with light rain and snow over the mountains is expected in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to PMD foggy conditions are likely to prevail over plain areas of Punjab and central Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during night and morning hours.

Temperatures of some major cities recorded on Saturday morning: Islamabad seven degree centigrade, Murree and Gilgit five, Lahore twelve, Karachi eighteen, Peshawar nine, Quetta zero, and Muzaffarabad six degree centigrade.

According to the Met Office forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy and cold weather is expected in Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula cold and dry in Jammu, while very cold and partly cloudy in Leh.

Earlier, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday forecasted dry and cold weather in Karachi and its suburban areas as the temperature continues to drop.

PMD predicted that with the arrival of winter in Karachi, the nights of the city have started getting cool, but the weather of the city will remain dry throughout the day.

Meteorological Department winter in Karachi usually starts in December.
