ISLAMABAD: In a recent development in the Sarah Inam murder case – the woman who was killed by her husband (Shahnawaz) at a farmhouse in Chakshehzad – mother and Shahnawaz himself indicted by the court in the case.
The indictment order was issued by judge Atta Rabbani and the court asked the prosecution to summon the witnesses on December 14.
As per details, the mother Sameena Shah sought a discharge from the case lodged against her and her son for murdering Sarah Inam – a Canadian Pakistani.
Sameena Shah’s lawyer Nasir Asghar maintained before the court that in challan the police said that Sameena was present at the crime scene but her involvement wasn’t claimed.
The lawyer also requested that the prosecutor didn’t involve her in the matter then she should be given relief from the case.
He also said that the mother was the one who handed over the main suspect to the police and her involvement in the crime wasn’t suspected.
“The only reason given is that the plaintiff is insisting to include Sameena in the investigations,” said the lawyer.
The plaintiff in the case appeared before the court with his lawyer Rao Abdul Rahim who maintained that it has been on record that Sarah visited the family after the divorce.
“The three had dinner together but what happened in the evening?” he raised the question.
The lawyer also said that the divorce took place two days before the incident and the CCTV cameras were switched off two days before.
In another revelation, he said that the post-mortem report has been claiming that the murder didn’t take place in the morning but she was killed late in the night around 1 o’clock.
Lawyer Rao Abdul Rahim said that DVR has been seized by the police and sent for forensics.
Earlier, Sameena was arrested by the police after her bail plea was rejected by the court.
Pertinently, Shahnawaz killed his wife, Sarah, after a row over doubts about an affair. He was arrested by the police at the crime spot and confessed his crime.
