Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman and former President Asif Ali Zardari held an important meeting with former prime minister and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Islamabad on Monday.

Federal Minister Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema was also present in the meeting. The present political situation and other issues came under discussion during the meeting.

Earlier, Bol News reported that Asif Ali Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting and discussed the dissolution of Punjab and KP assemblies and vote of confidence and vote of no-confidence motion against Punjab chief minister and other options to handle challenges being faced by the PDM.

They decided that the Punjab chief minister would be asked for vote of confidence by the Governor of Punjab despite moving the vote of no-confidence motion.

The sources said that Asif Ali Zardari has been assigned the task to contact the members of the assembly.

Meanwhile, Special Advisor to Prime Minister and PPP Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi met PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and enquired after his health.

They discussed the current political situation. Maryam Nawaz was also present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) initiated steps to remove Imran Khan as chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The election commission took the action after disqualifying Imran Khan from his National Assembly seat in October in the Toshakhana reference against him.

In this regard, the ECP has scheduled the hearing to remove Imran Khan from the PTI chairmanship on December 13.

The electoral watchdog sent a notice for the removal of Imran Khan as the chairman of PTI and summoned him on Dec 13.

PTI General Secretary Asad Umar confirmed receiving the notice. He said the party will write a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja to inquire about the reason for sending a notice.
