KARACHI: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) President Asif Ali Zardari has sent a legal notice to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for alleging Zardari of financing his murder plan.
The legal notice sent by Supreme Court Advocate Farooq H Naek on behalf of his client has sought from Imran Khan to seek unconditional apology in 14 days, otherwise the damage to the reputation should be remedied.
A notice of Rs10 billion has been sent by Asif Ali Zardari to Imran Khan.
It should be noted that the PTI chairman had accused the former president of plotting his assassination.
Addressing the activists through video link, Imran Khan had said that Asif Zardari had given money to a terrorist organization to kill him. He had alleged that powerful people were facilitating the plan.
Imran Khan had said, “If something happened to me, the whole nation should know who did it, I have written their names so that people know them.”
He had said that Zardari’s plan was to somehow remove him from the path, and his effort was to somehow defeat the PTI.
On January 28, Pakistan People Party (PPP) Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had announced taking legal action against Imran Khan for his allegations against Asif Zardari.
Bilawal had responded to the allegations after the PTI chief alleged that Zardari had paid a terrorist outfit to assassinate him, saying the accusation had put them under greater threat.
In a series of tweets, Bilawal had said they would take the allegations seriously after being recently threatened by a terrorist organization. He had slammed Imran Khan for leveling false accusations against his father and said PPP will challenge the allegations.
“After terrorist outfits called myself & my party out by name in direct threats, Imran has now made false accusations against my father former president AZ,” he had said. “These statements increase threats to my father, my family and my party. We take them seriously given our history.”
Bilawal had said the PPP was exploring a legal response to Imran latest “defamatory and dangerous accusations”.
