- Punjab Film Censor Board (PFCB) has been dissolved
- Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi ordered to dissolve PFCB
- Chairman, Vice-Chairman and non-official members have been dismissed
LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has ordered to dissolve Punjab Film Censor Board (PFCB), Bol News reported.
Secretary Information and Broadcasting Salwat Saeed issued a notification on the order of Chief Minister Punjab.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Information and Culture Ministry on Jan 27, pursuant to the direction of Chief Minister Punjab.
Chairman Chaudhry Gull Zaman, Vice Chairman Abdul Wasay Chaudhary and non-official members of the board have been de-notified.
The nonofficial members include Ammara Hikmat, Juggan Kazim, Abid Rasheed, Ali Tanveer, Zaigham Gondal, and Fatima Ahmad Khan.
It is pertinent that Punjab Information and Culture Department updated the members and office bearers of PFCB on November 18, 2022.
Vasay Chaudhry was appointed as the new vice chairman while ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ producer Ammara Hikmat was appointed as a non-official member.
The new board has been constituted for the coming two years. There are five official members including secretary of information and culture department, additional chief secretary home department, and secretary law and parliamentary affairs or their nominee.
Central Board of Film Censors was devolved by virtue of 18th Amendment in the Constitution of Pakistan and its branch office at Lahore was transferred to the Information & Culture Department, Government of Punjab.
PFCB is now functional under the Administrative Control of Information & Culture Department. The Board issues censor certificate for exhibiting a foreign/local film in Punjab.
