Caretaker CM Punjab assures justice to tortured child maid

LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Mayo Hospital to console a minor girl working as a domestic maid who was brutally tortured by her employers.

The chief minister visited Maryam who is undergoing treatment after being tortured by her employers. Naqvi consoled the minor girl and assured her to provide justice.

The girl was in tears as he narrated her ordeal to the chief minister. Naqvi consoled her and said those who oppressed her will be brought to justice soon.

CM Punjab instructed the hospital administration to provide treatment to Maryam. He also met with her mother, Sakina Bibi, and assured her of justice.

He said the incident of torture and burning is a matter of concern for the entire society. He said justice will provided and the accused will not be able to avoid punishment

Naqvi said he will personally supervise the case and come back to her. Provincial Ministers Dr Javed Akram, Aamir Mir, CCPO Lahore Bilal Kamyana were also present.

In a horrific incident, a 13-year old girl was tortured and burnt by her employers in South Cantonment area of Lahore. The victim suffered 40% burn injuries and both legs developed severe infections.

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi had sought a sought a report from IG Police about the incident and directed the officers concerned that the accused persons should be brought to justice.

The female employer Afshan Shaikh and her two brothers, Nadeem and Akmal, have been booked for torturing and burning the minor girl with flames.

A case has been registered under 324 (attempt to murder) and 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) against the suspects . Nadeem and Akmal are police officers and have been suspended.

The police officials said that the parents came to meet the girl but the employers were hesitant to bring the daughter before them.

The girl’s mother Sakina Bibi went inside the house where the girl Maryam was found in a tortured condition. The victim girl was employed for nine months.
