ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet approved the energy conservation plan and has decided to close the markets and marriage halls at 8:30 pm and 10 pm respectively.

According to the details, while holding a press conference, the federal cabinet announced to close business centers at 8.30 pm and marriage halls at 10 pm.

Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the energy-saving plan will be implemented across the country, which will save 62 billion rupees.

He said that street lights will be switched on 50% across the country, which will save Rs 4 billion, while inefficient fans will no longer be made in factories and old bulbs will not be manufactured after February 1, 2023.

He said that LED bulbs and efficient devices will be used in government institutions and a 30% reduction in electricity consumption will be brought in all institutions.

Khawaja Asif said that electric bikes will be promoted across the country because currently 3 billion dollars of oil is being used annually and e-bikes are being introduced to eliminate this consumption.

He said that ESAP is making a program so that the people can get finance for shifting and the owner of the bike will recover in one year from saving oil.

Khawaja Asif said that an awareness campaign will be conducted for energy saving and public service messages will also be played on private channels and radio.
