KARACHI: Chief Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeem said Thursday that the mayor of Karachi will be of JI and the party will not let anyone sell their mandate.
He – while expressing rage over the LG polls result – said that rigging was carried out in all phases of the electoral process under the umbrella of PPP and the Sindh government.
Hafiz Naeem said that the citizens of Karachi believed in JI and voted for them, “We won’t let anyone steal our mandate and if anything happens then the Police and the authorities will be responsible.”
Naeem also urged the election commission to exercise its power and take notice of the maneuvering carried out by PPP during the polls. “Constitution has given powers to the Election Commission and the Chief Election Commissioner, they must exercise their authority.”
Condemning the clashes and attacks that took place during the vote counting at various spots, he said that the JI workers and PTI leader Ali Zaidi were attacked which is shameful.
“I urge the people of Karachi to campaign against the influence of PPP in the polls and to protest.”
Hafiz Naeem also said that JI is going to celebrate the win tomorrow (January 20) in Karachi and across Pakistan adding that he has already mobilized his workers to make plans for the development projects to be done for Karachi in the upcoming days.
