ISLAMABAD: A spokesman for the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Saturday expressed serious concern over the circulation of speculative reports about the prices of petrol and diesel in the media.

“It has been observed that speculative prices of petrol and diesel are being reported in the print and electronic media since last evening that is misleading and incorrect,” OGRA spokesman Imran Ghaznavi said in a brief press statement.

He advised the elements, spreading misleading and incorrect information, to avoid disseminating speculative prices of petroleum products in the ‘public interest.’

On January 24, OGRA refuted reports of a scarcity of petrol and diesel in the nation, claiming that there were sufficient inventories on hand, BOL News reported.

In a news release, OGRA spokesman Imran Ghaznavi confirmed that “sufficient stocks of gasoline and diesel are accessible throughout the country.”

He said that the nation had enough gasoline and diesel supplies to last 18 and 37 days, respectively. The official continued, “Ships carrying 101,000MT [Metric Ton] of gasoline are also at berth/outer anchorage.”
