KARACHI: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) refuted reports of a scarcity of petrol and diesel in the nation, claiming that there were sufficient inventories on hand, BOL News reported.

In a news release, OGRA spokesman Imran Ghaznavi confirmed that “sufficient stocks of gasoline and diesel are accessible throughout the country.”

He said that the nation had enough gasoline and diesel supplies to last 18 and 37 days, respectively. The official continued, “Ships carrying 101,000MT [Metric Ton] of gasoline are also at berth/outer anchorage.”

According to Imran Ghzanavi, the refineries are doing their part to satiate the demand for petroleum goods.

The change occurs after the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) requested that the federal government act right away to ensure the prompt issue of letters of credit for the importation of petroleum products in order to prevent a gasoline scarcity in the nation.

On behalf of oil marketing companies (OMCs) and refineries, the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) submitted a letter outlining the difficulties arising from the opening of letters of credit (LCs) for the import of petroleum products.

“Critical petroleum product imports would be harmed if LCs were not formed promptly, which might result in a fuel crisis in the nation. It should be warned that if the supply chain is harmed, a return to normalcy might take six to eight weeks, according to the OCAC’s letter.
