As 2023 officially begins, individuals all across the world are progressively showing less endurance for fat-shaming and showing more support for positive body image. Most recently, a debate on the internet sparked by the joke between Pakistani cricketers Naseem Shah and Azam Khan is making sure that no one gets away with bullying.

Netizens are bringing about a much-needed shift by standing up for anybody and everyone.

After a video of the teenage players went viral online, showing Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah allegedly “teasing” Khan by mockingly mimicking his bodyshape during a game, this pretty odd occurrence came to light.

Both cricket stars are presently competing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shah for the Comilla Victorians and Khan for the Khulna Tigers. The conversation was started by Pakistan’s top right-arm pacer, who attempted to embrace Khan but failed due to the latter’s opposition. After exchanging insults, the batter pushed the 19-year-old player aside.

Shah then mimicked Khan by going behind the 24-year-old while raising his arms. The player, a Karachi native and the son of former batter-wicketkeeper Moin Khan, was not aware of Shah’s gesture.

The 24-year-old batsman stated in a recent interview with ESPN Cric Info that he experienced weight-related criticism shortly after landing his big break in the PSL. His body is “not fit for the elite game level of cricket,” it was said to him.

“It’s not about being overweight. It’s about performance. If a guy is scoring 400 runs and he is super-fit and another guy is scoring 800 runs and he is not super-fit, I will keep the guy who scored 800 runs in my team. That’s my point of view,” Khan suggested.

Clearly, not everyone thought Shah’s sense of humour.  Millions of individuals are calling for an end to the poisonous behaviours in social media messages that are all over the sites.

Azam scored 12 runs in four deliveries, including a six and a four, during the game of cricket, whereas Shah only managed to take one wicket in four overs while allowing 34 runs.

On the professional front, Shah is a key contributor to Pakistan’s national cricket squad in all three forms, while Azam has so far participated in three T20Is, with his most recent game taking place in July 2021 against the West Indies.
