LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to stand by the Constitution and right & justice and not be blackmailed by anyone.

He said this while addressing a press conference at Zaman Park here on Friday.

Fawad added that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is confronting the judiciary, the problem is not one or two judges but it is issue of the integrity snd honour of the institution.

He asserted that the whole nation is looking towards the judiciary and it is supposed to stand by the constitution and maintain the rule of law in the country otherwise there is no constitution, leading the state and society to anarchy.

He observed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz is openly abusing the honourable judges of Supreme Court in public meetings and trying to pressurise the judges to seek their favourite decision in ongoing cases.

He said that Maryam believes she would take the judiciary under pressure by abusing it as she did with the military, adding hers and her family crimes and incompetency could not be covered with such cheap tactics.

The former information minister said that she and the whole PML-N has opened a big front against not only higher courts’ judges but also the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Fawad recalled that the five judges, who passed a judgment against the ruling of the PTI deputy Speaker of National Assembly, bringing the PML-N and PDM to power, are also part of the same bench that is hearing the case of delay in provincial assemblies’ elections but the PTI has raised no objection to the integrity of the bench.

He further said that the N-League and Maryam believe that they can blackmail the judiciary, adding that at this time Pakistan has been affected by such video and audio leaks, adding that Pakistan is confronting blackmailer mafia.

He observed that when the audio of Imran Khan and the first lady surfaced, the chief justice of Pakistan was told that a dangerous game had been initiated. Such audios and videos are created by combining different parts from other audios and videos. But it seems that one law is for Imran Khan and other for Maryam Nawaz, he added.

He said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Azam Swati, Umar Cheema and other leaders and workers have been under arrest for three days but their families are being not allowed to meet them.

Fawad added that their arrested leaders and workers are being treated in jails as they are terrorists and being kept in barracks and with criminals.
