ISLAMABAD: A young woman was gang-raped at gunpoint by armed men in a public park located in F-9 area of the federal capital, BOL News reported.
The incident took place on Thursday night when two armed men approached the victim at a park in F-9, police have confirmed after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered.
In the complaint report, the 24-year-old victim told police that she was walking in the park with her male colleague when two unknown armed suspects came and started searching her.
She said the armed men forced them into a thicket of trees at gunpoint and then separated her from her colleague. The criminals then beat her up keep her quiet and then even prevented her from escaping.
The victim also added that one suspect also asked her about the relationship with her colleague. The criminals slapped her when she raised her voice. The accused then placed a coat on her face and threw her to the ground, the girl stated.
She added that both suspects sexually assaulted her after taking turns. The criminals stripped her and threw after her clothes and managed to flee from the spot.
Police have registered a case under the section of rape but have not included the charges of robbery. The victim’s medical has been conducted yesterday at PIMS and sample results are awaited. The forensic checkup confirmed marks of rape were found on the victim’s leg and face.
Police have started investigating the incident and is tracing the suspects through CCTV footage and Safe City cameras. The park officials are being interrogated to find clues about the suspects, police added.
Islamabad Capital Police took notice and said the incident is being investigated by the Special Unit for Sexual Offences.
A spokesperson said CPO Operations Sohail Zafar Chatta is supervising the investigation. The people present in the park at the time of the incident and the management are being questioned, police said.
Police said the DNA of the suspects is also being taken while further evidence is being collected based on cameras and intelligence, Police said the culprits will be arrested soon and brought to justice.
