The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday suspended the summon notice of Islamabad police against Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the case filed through the lawyers Naeem Haider Panjutha and Intizar Hussain Panjutha.

The petitioner had named IGP Islamabad and SHO Aabpara Police Station. Sheikh Rasheed appeared before the court along with his legal team.

The petitioner said police had no authority to serve such notice prior to filing of a First Information Report (FIR). He prayed the court to turn down the police notice and stop them from harassing him.

The lawyer read out the police notice and application for registration of FIR. The court questioned that how an application could be filed on the name of SSP Operations and instead, it should be in the name of SHO.

The court asked the lawyer to read out the Section-60 of Criminal Code. The court suspended the police notice and served notices to the respondents for comments.

The former interior minister was summoned to appear at the Aabpara Police Station on Monday but the politician nor his lawyers appeared before the police.

SHO Aabpara waited for his appearance but he failed to arrive. The policeman said action will be taken for failing to appear before police.

A case was filed at the Aabpara police station for registration of a case against Sheikh Rashid for allegedly making allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Sheikh Rashid claimed that Zardari has hired a group of terrorists to target PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.

He further claimed that Zardari was planning to target Imran Khan and a conspiracy was being hatched to assassinate the former premier.

He also said attempts were being made to put the PTI chairman behind bars and disqualify him ahead of general elections.

The plea stated that Sheikh Rashid’s accusations are part of a conspiracy and intends to create threats for Zardari and his family.

The complaint said the baseless accusations were issued to create a rift between PTI and PPP and all those involved should be arrested.

An initial report was registered against Sheikh Rashid in Aabpara Police Station Islamabad after he made the allegations.
