Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Friday decided not to run in by-polls of the National Assembly (NA).
As per the decision announced by Imran Khan, only the candidates who resigned from the constituencies will contest the elections and Imran Khan’s entire focus will be on the elections of the two assemblies.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had released the election schedule for 33 vacant seats of the National Assembly, on which polling will be held on March 16.
In this regard, the commission said that the nomination papers will be submitted from February 6 to February 8, while the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done till February 13, and the final list of candidates will be released on February 21.
The ECP said that election marks will be issued to the candidates for the elections on February 23.
According to the Election Commission, elections will be held on 9 constituencies of Karachi on March 16, while by-elections will be held on 5 National Assembly constituencies of Rawalpindi.
By-elections will be held in three constituencies of Islamabad, two constituencies each of Lahore and Multan and 8 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
