KARACHI: The Sindh Police have failed to arrest the female suspect who manhandled an elderly Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Karachi, Bol News reported.

During the last 30 hours, Civil Line and South Investigation police have carried out three raids to find out the woman, but in vain. The investigation sources said raids were carried out at her residence in Sindhi Muslim Society, Gizri and Defence (Darakhshan).

Police were present outside court as well but the woman did not turn up to get pre-arrest bail. Possibly, the woman has fled from the city, the sources said.

The woman was stopped for not stopping the car on signal at the PIDC traffic section. The traffic police sources said her car was also bearing fancy number plate and tinted glasses. A video of the incident has gone viral on various social media platforms.

The sources said the woman started acting up instead of cooperating with the police. The video shows the woman shoving the elderly policeman, DSP Ishtiaq Arain, and when he insisted on performing his duty, she slapped him. The DSP had continuously and respectfully been asking the woman to cooperate.

A case was filed against the woman, who threatened the police officer that one of her relatives was a provincial minister.

The DSP said the woman was moving forward despite red signal. “When I asked her to be civilized and follow the signal, she came out of the vehicle and said you should be a servant. I said I am abiding by the law,” he said adding that husband of the woman was not coming out of the vehicle.

Ishtiaq Arain said father and husband of the woman, reportedly a doctor at a well-known hospital, also misbehaved with him.

“I urged spouse of the woman to ask his wife not to create a mess on the road,” he said adding that legal action would be taken as case had been filed.

The police officer said the woman had sought apology and he had accepted her apology, however the department was following the legal procedure as the woman could misbehave similarly with another person someday. He said the woman was a doctor in a big hospital.
