SWAT: As many as 120 people were reportedly injured due to the massive earthquake in Swat Valley and adjoining areas, BOL News reported.

The district administration has declared an emergency at Saidu Sharif Hospital as the injured were brought from different parts of the district.

Sources said more than 120 injured people, including children and women, were shifted o Saidu Sharif Hospital. At least 40 injured belonged to Shangla District.

There were reports of roof collapses in Swabi, Chitral, and Lower Dir. A girl died after a wall collapsed in Madeen, Swat Valley.

Rescue officials said the roof of a house collapsed in Sheikh Jana area while eight students were brought to Saidu Sharif hospital in an unconscious state.

In Swabi, five people, including a woman and three children, were injured due to the roof collapse and were shifted to hospital. The injured women are being shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital

Strong tremors of the earthquake of 6.8 magnitude have been felt in different cities of the country including parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan,

The quake was felt in Peshawar, Kohat, Swabi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore. Apart from this, earthquake tremors were also felt in Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Khanewal, Toba Tek Singh, Parahhinar, and Karak.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in Skardu and Chilas. Frightened people came out of their houses reciting Kalima Tayyaba.

The seismological center said that the epicentre of the earthquake was the border area of ​​Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan.
