KARACHI: BOL TV Co-Chairman Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh has been granted acquittal by the Sindh High Court (SHC).
The court decided on the petition filed against the order of the trial court.
The written order of Shoaib Shaikh’s acquittal said that Section 265-K of the Penal Code empowers the court to acquit the accused at any stage of the case.
The court – after hearing the arguments of the parties – maintained that there is no possibility of the accused being convicted of any crime. The judgment was reserved yesterday after the arguments of the parties on the petitions were completed.
The written order also said that the subordinate court rejected the acquittal of the accused disagreeing with the arguments of the lawyers.
Justice Omar Sial asked the FIA investigating officer that he submitted an affidavit in Ayesha Sheikh’s case stating that the business of Axact was legal and inquired whether this affidavit is only for Ayesha Sheikh or is it for all the accused.
The investigating officer replied that the affidavit is for all accused in the case.
