ISLAMABAD: Police on Sunday raised the house of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Shibli Faraz in Islamabad, Bol News reported.

Police searched Faraz’s house near Parbat Road and questioned his mother, wife, and household staff, and left soon after. However, the PTI leader was not at home. A spokesperson for Islamabad police said the raid was conducted after receiving an arrest warrant.

A day earlier, Shibli Faraz was hospitalized after his health worsened as PTI workers clashed with police. He was discharged on Sunday and returned home but left later that day.

Shibli Faraz was shifted to hospital with injuries after being injured by police violence. Doctors said his lungs have been affected by shelling. Doctors conducted an ECG and said his health has improved.

On Saturday, Shibli Faraz was briefly arrested from the Islamabad Judicial Complex amid violent clashes between police and PTI workers during the appearance of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Shibli Faraz was arrested for allegedly bringing in group of PTI workers who confronted police and law enforcement agencies. PTI workers clashed with police and caused damage to public property, forcing the law enforcers to briefly detain Faraz.

Chaos gripped the Islamabad Judicial Complex as PTI Chairman Imran Khan arrived to appear before a court that was expected to indict him in the Toshakhana case.

The PTI chief arrived at the Islamabad Judicial Complex several moments earlier but left the premises soon after due to the tense situation.

The former prime minister’s convoy also faced several hurdles on its way from Lahore to Islamabad from from vehicles overturning to police and party workers clashing on several spots.

Ahead of Imran Khan’s arrival, the area was put on high security to ensure law and order and avoid any untoward situation as witnessed during his earlier appearance last month.

PTI workers pelted stones at authorities outside the premises of the Islamabad Judicial Complex while police resorted to tear gas. PTI workers also heavily damaged three police mobiles and targeted law enforcers through slingshots, which forced police to fire teargas.

As police and workers clashed, the law enforcers also hit party leaders — Shibli Faraz, Farrukh Habib, and Murad Saeed — with batons.  A baton also hit Faraz on the head and injured him.
