ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to write a letter to the federal government for the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The development came after the verdict announced by the Supreme Court in the sou motu case of the delay in elections.
An emergency meeting has been called under the chair of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in this regard.
Sources said that the Election Commission has decided to restart the consultation process in light of the Supreme Court’s decision.
Election Commission has decided to resume consultations with the President and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and to write a letter to the federal government as well.
SC has announced the verdict in the sou motu case of delay in Punjab and KP polls and ordered to hold the polls within 90 days. The apex court has ordered the governor to announce the date after consultation with ECP.
Meanwhile, the date given by the President for holding elections in Punjab was declared constitutional.
