Islamabad: Subsidized cheap sugar has been increased by Rs 8 per kg at utility stores; the increase in sugar prices will be implemented immediately.

According to the details, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has increased the price of sugar as soon as it becomes available.

Sources further claim that the price of non-subsidized sugar has also increased by Rs 8 per kg.

In this regard, the price of sugar has been fixed at Rs 155 for general customers and Rs 109 per kg for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) customers at utility stores.

Previously, the price of sugar for general consumers was Rs 147 per kg, and the old price of sugar under subsidy was Rs 101 per kg.

According to details, the IMF has demanded to hand over utility stores to the private sector Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and also requested an increase in budget.
