
Abid Boxer secures bail from ATC
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore approved the bail of former police inspector Abid Boxer is cases of extortion and harboring fugitives on Thursday.
Abid Boxer had also been facing charges related to stealing official Kalashnikovs from the police, and escaping from police custody.
Abid Boxer’s post-arrest bail application was a matter of discussion during multiple hearings, and ultimately, the court approved the bail request.
The court granted bail against a surety bond of Rupees 0.1 million.
During the proceedings, Azar Latif Khan and Maqsood Khokhar, the advocates representing Abid Boxer, presented their arguments.
Judge Muhammad Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court pronounced the verdict, allowing Abid Boxer to be released on bail.
Abid Boxer had filed a bail application through his lawyers, asserting that the accusations of stealing official Kalashnikovs were false, and he claimed that he was tortured during his custody.
Abid Boxer was arrested by the Punjab police from Kasur on Thursday.
