KARACHI: In a major robbery incident, more than 15 muggers dressed in police uniform and plain clothes robbed a family in Orangi Town No 5 of Rs20 million, gold up to 70-80 tola and other valuable items, Bol News reported on Sunday.
The suspects started looting after taking the people in the house hostage. They kept looting for almost two hours, after they entered the house at 2:20 am. The accused ran away around 4 am.
They had also taken two brothers with them who were dropped from the vehicle at Baloch Bridge. The suspects were riding in police mobile van, a Vigo vehicle, Mehran car and motorcycles. The incident was reported to police helpline 15 but till filing of the report the police did not show up.
“We have sanitary wholesale business and we had money of the shopkeepers in the house. There are six brothers in the house, all of them are married and have children,” said the affected citizen Shakir.
He said the suspects had surrounded the street and the area. The suspects and the vehicles can also be seen in the CCTV footage, said the affected citizen.
“On the way, they put me and brother Aamir together in the mobile van and took them along,” said the affected citizen Shakir adding that they threw a blanket on them and told them to get down near Baloch bridge.
He was blindfolded, when he removed the blindfold after a long time, he saw that no one was there, said Shakir.
He said after taking the phone from the rescue official, he informed at home.
He begged that justice should be provided to them and the accused should be arrested soon. Looted cash, jewelery and valuables should be returned to them , he said.
