ISLAMABAD: Following the resignation of Farhatullah Babar from the position of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) general secretary, Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, a central leader of PPP Parliamentarians, has assumed a crucial role within the party, according to reports on Tuesday.
Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has been designated as the secretary-general of PPP Parliamentarians, with approval for his appointment coming from former Prime Minister Asif Ali Zardari.
Farhatullah Babar had recently resigned as the general secretary of PPP, stepping down from his party role just ahead of the general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
The resignation occurred as the People’s Party was in the process of allocating tickets to its candidates for the upcoming elections.
As per a statement from People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, the former army chief had requested Babar’s resignation, a demand that was ultimately declined by Babar. The statement further noted that Babar would be offered another position within the political party.
