Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to amend the election scheduled, Bol News reported.

The JUI-F has also demanded an extension of the date for receipt of nomination papers from the Election Commission.

In this regard Senator Kamran Murtaza of JUI wrote a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner in which it was said that on the order of the Supreme Court (SC), the schedule of general elections was released by the Election Commission, Political parties have to distribute party tickets to candidates at national and provincial levels for elections.

In the text of the letter, it was said that the election Commission has kept 3 days’ time for submission of nomination papers in the schedule, three days should be added for receipt of nomination papers.

Kamran Murtaza wrote in the letter that the time the time of scrutiny of nomination papers can be reduced from seven days to four days, by reducing the time of scrutiny it will be possible to conduct polling on February 8.

According to the letter, JUI-F has no objection to the election date and other stages of the election schedule. The Election Commission can alter the schedule under Section 58 of the Election Act.

It was further said in the letter that increasing the time for nomination papers will be satisfactory for JUI-F as a political party. Extending the time for nomination papers will make it easier for political parties to select better candidates.
