Islamabad: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Murtza Solangi says that the country will run on a federal parliamentary democratic system, and everyone agrees on it.

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, the caretaker information minister said that the election commission has issued a code of conduct, the media must be aware of the code of conduct of the election commission, baseless propaganda related to the election was being done, and many people speculated about the February 8 election.

The interim federal minister said that the federal government presented its position consistently. Murtaza Solangi said that in the 18th Amendment, Article 224 was amended to introduce the system of caretaker governments; the parliamentary system can be improved by legislation; and people should have the power to hold their elected representatives accountable.

Earlier, Caretaker Federal Minister Murtaza Solangi met Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi.

Matters pertaining to mutual interest, resolution of media industry problems and steps being taken for the well-being of journalists were discussed during the meeting, said a handout issued here on Saturday.

CM Naqvi said that an endowment fund to the tune of Rs 1 billion had been established for welfare of journalists community for the first time. “We are also endeavouring to solve other problems being faced by the journalists community,” he added.
