Islamabad: The final meeting of the investigation committee on the allegations of alleged election rigging by former commissioner Rawalpindi will be held today.

The investigation committee will finalize the report on the allegations of former Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta, while the committee will submit its investigation report to the Election Commission today.

Moreover, the investigation committee recorded the written statements of all 6 DROs of Rawalpindi division, the committee recorded the statements of 13 returning officers of the National Assembly and 26 returning officers of the provincial assembly in Rawalpindi division, all these statements are part of the report.

Additionally, the transcript of the press conference of former commissioner Rawalpindi regarding the rigging allegations has also been made a part of the investigation report.

Previously, Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta has announced his resignation after admitting the irregularities in the general elections.

While addressing a press conference at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Commissioner Rawalpindi said that I did injustice in Rawalpindi Division during the elections, we changed the lost candidates to 50,000 lead, 13 MNAs of Rawalpindi Division were defeated, they were given 70,000 lead and played with the country.

Chatta said, “I accept the responsibility of the election rigging in Rawalpindi Division and handover myself to the police announcing my resignation from my post, I should be given the death penalty in Rawalpindi’s Kachehri Chowk.
