The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with isolated hailstorms and snowfall over the mountains, for parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Saturday evening/night to Tuesday.

According to the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave is prevailing over the northern parts of Pakistan. A new westerly wave is expected to enter Balochistan on Sunday night and affect the upper parts of the country on Monday.

Under these conditions, partly cloudy and freezing weather is anticipated in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Saturday evening/night to Tuesday.

On Saturday evening/night, light rain, wind, and thunderstorms, accompanied by snowfall over hills, are expected in areas including Chitral, Dir, Balakot, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, and nearby regions.

From Sunday to Tuesday, rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with snowfall over the hills, are likely in various areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, and Waziristan, with occasional breaks. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.

Snowfall could disrupt traffic in locations like Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, and Hunza on Monday evening/night and Tuesday. The possibility of landslides in upper districts cannot be ruled out during the forecast period.

In Peshawar, the minimum temperature is expected to range between 04-06 degrees Celsius on Sunday and 05-07 C on Monday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather persisted in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last 24 hours, with freezing weather in upper districts.

Kalam recorded the lowest temperature in the province, dropping 12 C below freezing. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C, with relative humidity during the morning at 85 percent.
