A strong westerly weather system is set to hit Pakistan starting Saturday, bringing significant rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snow in the central and upper regions from February 17 to February 21.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this weather pattern will first affect western areas on February 17, reaching the upper and central parts by February 18.

This weather system will cause moderate to heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snow in Islamabad and Punjab, including various cities like Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and others, from February 17 to February 21.

Additionally, lighter rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Multan, Bhakkar, and Dera Ghazi Khan on February 18 and 19. Hailstorms may also occur during this period.

In mountainous areas like Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snow are expected from February 17 to February 21, with intermittent hailstorms.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience similar conditions, including cities like Swat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar, from February 17 to February 20.

Balochistan will see rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snow from February 18 to February 19.

Southern parts of Sindh will remain dry but windy from February 18 to February 20.

The PMD warns of potential road closures due to heavy rain and snow in hilly areas, increasing the risk of landslides.

Loose structures like electric poles and vehicles may be damaged by wind and hailstorms. Farmers and tourists are advised to be cautious, and authorities should remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents during this period.
