The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad has unveiled the Tajir Dost Scheme 2024, aiming to bring small traders and shopkeepers into the tax net. This initiative aligns with the government’s goal of boosting revenue generation and formalizing businesses across the country.

Under the scheme, all traders and shopkeepers operating from fixed business premises such as shops, stores, warehouses, offices, or similar locations within civil limits, including cantonments, are required to register. The registration process for retailers kicks off on April 1, 2024.

There are three primary methods for registration under the Tajir Dost Scheme:

Tajir Dost App FBR (Tax Asaan App)

Traders and shopkeepers can apply for registration through the Tax Asaan app, available on both Android and iOS platforms.

FBR’s Portal

Registration is also possible via the Federal Board of Revenue’s online portal.

FBR’s Tax Facilitation Centers

Those seeking registration can visit FBR’s Tax Facilitation Centers. The deadline for registration under the scheme is April 30.

Failure to apply for registration by eligible individuals will result in the Commissioner of Inland Revenue registering them under the scheme, as stated in the notification.

The second part of the Special Revenue Order (SRO) pertains to the payment of the minimum advance tax, which takes effect on July 1, 2024. Key points in this aspect include:
