As the sacred month of Ramazan approaches, Muslims worldwide are preparing for their spiritual journey. Weather specialist Jawad Memon predicts a high probability (95%) of the first fast in Pakistan falling on March 12.

The first taraweeh prayer, an additional night prayer observed by Sunni Muslims during Ramadan, is projected to occur on the evening of March 11. Following this, the first day of fasting will commence on March 12, as per Memon’s predictions.

Memon elaborates that although the new moon signaling the beginning of Ramadan will be born on March 10, it will only become visible to the naked eye by March 11.

In adherence to tradition, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, headquartered in Islamabad, will convene to receive and review moon sighting reports. Zonal committees nationwide will also gather in their respective regions for this purpose. The official announcement regarding the moon sighting will be made subsequent to these evaluations.

During Ramadan, a period marked by profound devotion and zeal, millions of Pakistanis, alongside billions of Muslims worldwide, will observe fasts from dawn to dusk. The fasting duration will vary from 12 to 17 hours, depending on geographical locations across the globe.

In Pakistan, as in numerous other countries, Ramadan is distinguished by increased charitable endeavors and communal food distributions. Roadside stalls are established for individuals returning home in the evening.
