Weather Update: Rain Expected in Karachi and Hyderabad
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts increased rainfall and occasional hailstorms in Karachi, Hyderabad, and parts of Sindh from Friday evening through Saturday.
This is due to a strong westerly wave affecting most areas of Pakistan until Sunday.
The anticipated weather conditions may bring rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds to various regions including Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Noushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Mohenjo-Dharo, and Larkana.
Lower Sindh may experience isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms, potentially leading to urban flooding and damage to structures like electric poles and solar panels.
On Saturday, Karachi is expected to have minimum temperatures ranging from 16-18 degrees Celsius, with similar conditions on Sunday between 15-17 degrees Celsius. Hyderabad’s minimum temperatures are predicted to be between 15-17 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 14-16 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Although most areas in Sindh experienced dry weather over the past 24 hours, some regions saw scattered rainfall, with Jacobabad receiving 12mm and Larkana receiving 03mm of rainfall.
Mohenjo-Daro recorded the lowest temperature in the province at 12 degrees Celsius, with a morning relative humidity of 84 percent. In Karachi, the minimum temperature was 18 degrees Celsius, with a morning relative humidity of 65 percent, while in Hyderabad, the minimum temperature was also 18 degrees Celsius, with a morning relative humidity of 67 percent.
