Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announced a groundbreaking initiative on Wednesday to provide free breakfast to schoolchildren across the province, as per reports.

Speaking at a ceremony in Karachi, the governor introduced the “Governor’s Initiative for Free Breakfast for Students,” targeting children in government schools.

Governor Tessori highlighted a concerning survey revealing that many children in Sindh skip breakfast due to poverty and inflation. Some have not had milk for two years, and others have been without eggs for six months.

This initiative aims to ensure no schoolchild attends school hungry, starting with 100 government schools and expanding in phases.

The program will extend beyond Karachi, reaching other parts of Sindh, with a dedicated website for school registrations.

Tessori expressed gratitude to MQM-P Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and philanthropist Bashir Farooqui, Chairman of Saylani Welfare Trust, for their support.

He also mentioned other initiatives from the Governor’s House, including IT and security service classes.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui emphasized the urgent need for educational improvement, noting that 25 to 30 million children in Pakistan are deprived of education.

With 60 percent of the population being youth or children, integrating the 30 million out-of-school children could significantly enhance the educational landscape.

He thanked Governor Tessori for supporting the federal government’s educational emergency initiative in Sindh, stating that providing breakfast would alleviate burdens, reduce poverty, and boost school attendance.
