Rains, gusty winds expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi

Rain and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Pakistan on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday, and Friday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are influencing southern and central parts of Pakistan.

As a result, windstorms and thunderstorms with rain are anticipated in the twin cities and isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, northeast and south Punjab, southeast Sindh, and east Balochistan on Wednesday evening/night and the following two days.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature is expected to range between 41-43°C on Thursday and 39-41°C on Friday. Similarly, Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature is projected to be between 41-43°C on Thursday and 39-41°C on Friday.

In the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country. However, rain and thunderstorms were recorded in Gupis (3 mm) and Mirkhani (2 mm). Turbat and Jacobabad were the hottest places in the country, with a maximum temperature of 49°C. Dadu recorded 48°C, while Sibbi, Lasbella, and Khairpur reached 47°C. Rohri, Padidan, Noorpur Thal, Mohenjo-Daro, Larkana, Chhor, and Bahawalpur recorded temperatures of 46°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was 42°C, with a relative humidity of 52 percent in the evening.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was also 42°C, with a relative humidity of 33 percent in the evening.
