Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced the sighting of the crescent moon, designating June 7 (Friday) as the first day of Zil Hajj.

According to a statement from the Saudi Supreme Court, Arafat Day will be observed on Saturday, June 15, and the first day of Eid Al Adha will be Sunday, June 16.

The news outlet stated that Arafat Day is on the ninth day of Zil Hajj, which is June 15, and the holy month begins on June 7, with Eid Al Adha celebrated on the 10th day of Zil Hajj.

The sighting of the moon signifies the start of the Dhu Al Hijjah Islamic month, during which the Hajj pilgrimage takes place, followed by Eid Al Adha.

Arafat Day, falling on the ninth day of Dhu Al Hijjah, is a significant event in the Islamic calendar. Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is the pilgrimage to Mecca that every Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime if they are able.
