RAWALPINDI: Security agencies on Wednesday took former deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail into custody for facilitating Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Founder Imran Khan in the jail.
Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram was charged for helping the PTI founder and exceeding his authority.
Akram was removed from his post on June 20, while Deputy Superintendent Judicial Tahir Siddique Shah replaced him as security supervisor of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The Punjab home department (prison section), through a notification, had removed Muhammad Akram, directing him to leave the charge and report to the Prisons Department, Lahore.
The security agencies are investigating the DS, who has been accused of secretly conveying messages to the founder PTI.
The security agencies have informed to the Inspector General (IG) Jail about the arrest.
Departmental action would be initiated against the official after the completion of probe.
